PUTRAJAYA – Rumours on cabinet reshuffle is not true. According to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday was to discuss on the country’s affairs, nothing about the alleged reshuffle.
“Yesterday’s meeting was only between the main leaders of the government and not party leaders. That is why only the government leaders were present for the meeting with the PM,” he said in a press conference after the 2020 Budget Focus Group Meeting at the Ministry of Housing and Local Government today.
Also present at the press conference was the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Guan Eng said, the cabinet reshuffle subject was never brought up in any meeting.
“I don’t know but I was present during yesterday’s meeting. It was about the government’s affairs and not related to the cabinet reshuffle.
“It has never been brought up. It is not up to me. I am not the PM,” said the Secretary-General of DAP when asked about allegations that the party has submitted a new list to replace ministers in the Cabinet, which he denied.
“That is not true at all. It should remain as it is. DAP did not submit any name list,” he said.
Zuraida also reaffirm Guan Eng’s statement on the Cabinet reshuffle.
“No cabinet reshuffle at this moment. There was no discussion on that,” said the Vice-President of PKR.
The media reported yesterday that the former Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), who is also the Member of Parliament of Jeli, Datuk Mustapa Mohamed will be joining the Cabinet soon.
However, it is unknown as to which portfolio he will be holding.
The rumours about Cabinet reshuffle has been going on for a while with the last on 19 July. Nevertheless, the Dr Mahathir denied those rumours. -MalaysiaGazette
