KUALA LUMPUR – It is not wrong for consumers to choose the businesses or products they want to patronise, said the Secretary-General of UMNO, Tan Sri Annuar Musa as it is their rights and they need to use it wisely.

“Other people have been using that for a long time without a scene!” he said in a Twitter posting.

Yesterday, the Secretary-General of DAP, Lim Guan Eng said that the campaign to boycott products produced by the non-Bumiputera by UMNO and PAS needs to be ceased as it would not only affect national unity but is also detrimental for the consumers.

According to the Finance Minister, the boycott is disturbing and Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was even forced to comment on the matter.

Nevertheless, Annuar said, the people may have been inspired by the approach of Buy British Last policy implemented by the country years ago.

However, he also said that the consumers should determine what they want.

He also added that the boycott policy has long been implemented by certain quarters subtly.

“UTUSAN MELAYU is among the victims of such act,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
