KUALA LUMPUR – The Penyatuan Ummah charter which will be signed tomorrow can give a huge winning to the PAS and UMNO alliance during the coming general election.
According to the President of Malaysian Muslim Solidarity (ISMA), Aminuddin Yahaya, if the members from the two Malay Muslim parties are translated into the votes for GE15, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) will lose its place in the government.
“I look at the alliance of the ummah in the context of the Malays and Muslims from both parties. UMNO has three million members, PAS has a million.
“When combined, there are four million votes. This does not include the votes from their supporters who are non-members,” he said during the Penyatuan Ummah assembly today.
In sad tone, Aminuddin said that the Malays have lost their identity as they follow the commands of others.
“This is wrong. We must remember that Islam in Malaysia is because of us. Thus, the Malays do not need to be apologetic,” he said.
Meanwhile, political analyst from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof. Azmi Hasan hoped that the alliance will not be limited to the two parties, but will also involve the other parties.
He said, UMNO and PAS should be open to accept other parties who are willing to join them.
He also reminded the Malay Muslims that the negative voices from certain quarters can be heard and there were attempts to disrupt this unity by alleging that it is a union for races.
“I don’t want to mention who they are but what they said is wrong. Those people should see the alliance between PAS and UMNO as a union for all races.
“I am surprised by those narratives when the alliance is good and need not be manipulated,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
