KUALA LUMPUR – The President of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said that those who have been enthusiastically opening the old wounds between UMNO and PAS lately have divorce sickness (gila talak).
“Those who brought were neither from PAS nor UMNO. We have settled what happened between PAS and UMNO among ourselves.
“Those who brought those things up have left PAS and UMNO, as what people say, they have ‘divorce sickness’,” he said in a press conference held in Rusila, Terengganu which was broadcasted live in Facebook.
When ask about the various comments from the Pakatan Harapan leaders on the Perpaduan Ummah Assembly (HPU), the Member of Parliament of Marang said, those noises were the evidence of fear.
He also said that no one should fear as the HPU will be held in accordance to the laws of a democratic country.
“They should be happy with this union. When there are many parties, there will be many different ideas.
“The union will unite the people. We should have fear due to our powers, we must fear the responsibilities we have for the people. That is more important,” he said.
On the HPU which will take place tomorrow, according to Abdul Hadi, the highlight of the event will witness the Presidents of UMNO and PAS speaking and signing a charter. The assembly will also unite the people, especially the Malays in this country.
At the same time, he said, thte initiative will not side lined the multiracial people. Therefore, the people need not worry as no elements of races will be included in the event. On the contrary, the assembly will take mould on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“The Prophet started an ummah union with the Arabians. After that, He also did it with the other races who embraced Islam or those under the leadership of Muslims.
“We want to revive that understanding. That is the similarities between PAS and UMNO since we reached independence, and, parties such as MCA and MIC understand that,” he said.
Abdul Hadi was also asked to comment on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who urged the President of PAS to revoke his statement which slammed UMNO as infidel to Islam (kafir).
He said, that is between PAS and UMNO and they have resolved that academically.
According to him, UMNO, through the Prime Minister’s Department had published a book to explain about the issue and PAS had also did the same thing in the past.
“The book issued by the Prime Minister’s Department, I’m not sure if he’d read it,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
