KUALA LUMPUR – Those who want to promote national unity cannot depend on the government to provide aids granting tax exemption and subsidies.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said, the people who loves the country and wants to promote unity should work on the implementation themselves.
“If they want to promote unity, they need to show and prove it. If you love the country, you need to show it.
“There are too many tax exemptions in the country. It is time for us to forget about subsidies,” he said when asked by the participants of ISIS PRAXIS Conference 2019: Malaysia Beyond 2020.
He was also asked to comment on the administration of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government for these two years, which was not seen to provide allocation or tax exemption to those who promote unity in its budget tabulation.
The government, according to him, has tolerated many things, not only on the tax exemption, but the national policy takes into consideration of the interests of the multi-racial people.
“We should accept the fact, this is a multi-racial country. There is one thing in particular where the country is extremely good. We allow the usage of other languages,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
