SHAH ALAM – Former Deputy President of PAS, Datuk Dr Nasharudin Mat Isa is slapped with 33 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) and money laundering charges amounting to RM4 million.
However, he pleaded not guilty on all charges pressed against him.
He was charged for 3 counts of money laundering by depositing RM302,069.60 obtained from the Ministry of Finance to Global Movements of Moderates (GMFF) on 9 November, 14 November and 20 December 2018.
All three charges were made under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Act 613). Upon conviction, he may face imprisonment of not more than 15 years, fined not less than five times of the offence.
He was also being charged on 30 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) under Section 409 of the Penal Code. According to the charge sheet, Nasharudin, as the Chairman of Yayasan Nassar, has allegedly committed the offence between 8 January 2018 and 8 August 2018 amounting to RM3.7 million.
He could face imprisonment of up to 20 years, whipped and be fined upon conviction.
Nasharudin was also ordered to surrender his travel documents on 28 November. The Sessions Court also requested the prosecution to submit the list of witnesses.
The charges were read to him before Judge Roziah Salleh. The judge allowed bail at RM330,000 with a surety. -MalaysiaGazette
