KUALA LUMPUR – The Home Ministry will seize the controversial Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Win Winism comic books if they are found in the market.

Its Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also advised the public to not read the book.

“If the comic books are still in the market, it will be seized.

“We have scrutinised and study it, there is a strong base. It is not due to sentiments or actions from any quarters.

“I had to take action as fast as I can. I would like to advise the public as a ban has been issued. Please avoid from reading and using that book,” he said at the lobby of the Parliament.

He also denied the allegations that the ban on the comic book was due to certain sentiments.

Yesterday, the Home Ministry issued an order to ban the distribution and publication of the comic book published by Hew Kuan Yau which has created controversies after they were being distributed in schools in Penang.

The order is applied on all three versions of the book in English – Belt & Road Initiative For Win-Winism, Mandarin – “互利共赢的 一带一路 ” and Malay – “Inisiatif Jalur & Jalan Meraih Manfaat Bersama” through a Government Gazette, P.U.(A) 288/2019.

According to the ministry, the contents that could hurt public peace and safety and affect the minds of the people could be found in the contents of the comic book.

It is also alleged that the publication tried to promote the communist and socialism ideology, spreading wrong and confusing facts on communism and it also contains elements to rake support and sympathy for the communists. -MalaysiaGazette
