KUALA LUMPUR – Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng verified that he has written the foreword for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Win Winism comic book published by the former DAP leader, Hew Kuan Yau.

However, the Secretary-General of DAP refused to comment on the issue.

“It is true. It is there, I don’t deny that.

“When it happened, I was at overseas on an official business.

“I understand that the legal process is ongoing. Let it (investigation) take place. I don’t want to comment. It may be misinterpreted as interference.

“We don’t want to see power abuse. Let the legal process take place,” he said at the lobby of the Parliament today.

The members of the media have been seeking for Guan Eng to get his comment on the Foreword in the controversial comic, which has been banned.

Last week, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak uploaded a Facebook post questioning DAP after the Chief Minister of Penang and DAP Youth Chief denied allegations that the party is linked to the comic.

In his social media status, Najib said, “A person named Lim Guan Eng, with the title as the Finance Minister and the Secretary-General of DAP wrote the Foreword for the comic.”

Last week, the Home Ministry has gazetted a ban on controversial ‘Inisiatif Jalur Dan Jalan Meraih Manfaat Bersama’ comic books, along with its publications in English and Mandarin versions.

In a statement, the ministry said that the ban is imposed following elements which could disrupt public harmony and safety and could affect thoughts of the people.

The contents of the publication tried to promote the ideology of communist and socialism, spreading wrong and confusing facts on communists and rake support and sympathy for the communists. -MalaysiaGazette
