Although, Islam allows zakat distribution to the non-Muslims, it can only happen if the individual is willing to embrace Islam under asnaf Mu’allafati Qulubuhum.
The Private Secretary to the Sultan of Selangor, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said in a statement that although Islam emphasizes on humanity, however, the zakat collection obtained from the Muslims ought to be given to the asnaf amongst the Muslim, especially those who are really poor and in need.
Therefore, the Sultan of Selangor urged the people to put a stop to the open debate on the zakat distribution.
“Duli Yang Maha Mulia the Sultan of Selangor urged the people to stop taking advantage and use issues pertaining to Islam to gain popularity, or to please certain quarters,” he said.
In Selangor, there are many poor Muslims living at the outskirt area and also the urban poor who need to be assisted using the zakat collection.
“In Selangor, majority of its people as Muslims and the number of Muslims in the state increases every year,” he said.
