KUALA LUMPUR – The President of PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim thanked Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for confirming that he would be the successor as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

He added, it is true that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) has never presented any other names as it has been pre-agreed before the 14th General Election (GE14).

“Thanks to the people, PH and Tun.

“I have said earlier. The decision was made before the general election. It was the mandate of the election. As of now, there is no other PH leader who propose another name,” he said at the lobby of the parliament today.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald in Bangkok on Monday, he once again emphasized that his successor is Anwar and not the Minister of Economic Affairs, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said, although there are requests for him to stay until the next general election, Mahathir is committed to handover his position before that period.

When asked if he would pass the baton over to Anwar, he said, “Yes, I will.” -MalaysiaGazette
