KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) has identified six more new anchor companies under its Vendor Development Programme (PPV), said Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof.
According to him, the process of appointment will be finalised by year-end with a target of 80 companies as new vendors to be developed.
The six anchor companies are PLUS Malaysia, Cement Industries-CIMA, UEM Sunrise, UEM Edgenta, Foresight Industries and Tenggara Nasa.
He said so far, 21 anchor companies and 1,228 vendor companies are taking part in PPV.
“MED will increase the number of anchor companies and vendors by taking into consideration new sectors such as aerospace, air mobility, rail and biotechnology,” he said when speaking at the Vendor Innovation Sharing Programme Appreciation Night here today.
He said among the improvements carried out by MED is the expansion of the PPV ecosystem involving aspects of funding, including alternative funding such as angel investor, crowd funding, peer-to-peer as well as listing on Bursa Malaysia.
At the ceremony, 14 Bumiputera vendors were awarded National Champions and Regional Champions under PPV.
The vendor companies which received recognition under Regional Champion category were Ingress Technology Sdn Bhd, Dura-Mine Sdn Bhd and Pro-Landscape Sdn Bhd.
For the National Champion category, the companies receiving recognition were Suria Component Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd, Automotive Industries Sdn Bhd, Autokeen Sdn Bhd and Exact Engineering Sdn Bhd.
