KUALA LUMPUR – MCA which represented the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Tanjung Piai by-election will not achieve its glorious success without the involvement of the various political parties in the National Cooperation, said its President, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
“BN’s winning in Tanjung Piai is the cooperation of everyone. It is impossible to win with the support of only one race, be it the Malays, Indians or Chinese. Cooperation means togetherness, shared direction,” he said at a news conference at the lobby of the Parliament today.
Last Saturday, MCA managed to regain the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) when its candidate, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng won a whopping 15,086 votes as opposed to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Karmaine Saidini who only received 10,380 votes.
Meanwhile, Ka Siong said that BN’s achievement in Tanjung Piai proved that the opposition coalition share the similar direction regardless if they are in BN or the National Cooperation led by UMNO and PAS.
“Some think that because we share the similar objectives, thus, we see an unexpectable result.
“To me, it does not matter if it is our brotherhood in BN or the National Cooperation or even the solidarity as the opposition. To me, it is more important to fight for the people,” he added.
In the same news conference, Jeck Seng said that he will try his best to highlight the promises of the federal government at the Tanjung Piai parliamentary area.
“Beginning from today, I will start my service centres in Pekan Nanas and Pontian.
“The most important thing is that we hope that the government will fulfil their promises, especially towards the fishermen and salted fish farming fishermen,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
