KUALA LUMPUR – The attempt to put all blames on the shoulders of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad over the defeat of their candidate during the Tanjung Piai by-election last Saturday was a wrong perception.

The Secretary-General of UMNO, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that defeat of Karmaines Sardini and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) to the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Jeck Seng was caused by the anger of the people towards PH.

He said, some quarters in PH concluded that a power transition of the Prime Minister’s position to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would have saved them from such disgrace.

“That would be a wrong diagnosis and prescription. The defeat of PH was caused by the hatred of the people over to the failure, cruelty, arrogance, greed and lies of PH and the chauvinism of DAP,” he said in his Twitter account today.

Karmaine, who obtained 10,380 votes lost with a huge majority of 15,086 votes to Jeck Seng, who managed to get 25,466 votes during the Tanjung Piai by-election last Saturday.

Several hours after the election result was announced, the co-founder of PKR, Dr. Syed Husin Ali said that the defeat was a referendum towards PH led by Dr Mahathir.

He was reportedly saying that the result was an obvious proof that the people are disappointed and want to teach PH a lesson, especially to Dr Mahathir.

In conjunction with that, Annuar, who is also the Member of Parliament of Ketereh invited Dr Mahathir and the leaders of PPBM to join the National Cooperation along with BN and Gagasan Sejahtera (GS) in creating a new agenda by protecting the dignity of the people and solving the country’s problems.

He said, the success of BN in regaining the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat after Cameron Highlands was not easy, however, it was not impossible.

“BN and Muafakat Nasional will work in regaining all 12 Parliamentary seats won by PPBM during GE14.

“Insha-Allah, we can do it and we will work for it,” he said. – MalaysiaGazette
