KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad confessed that he had heard about the secret meeting between the 22 Members of Parliament (MPs) from Barisan Nasional (BN) and the five MPs from PKR at the official residence of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in Putrajaya last night.
However, he said that he did not know the content of their discussion during the meeting.
Refusing to elaborate further, he repeated his answer twice when asked to verify if he knew about the meeting at Azmin’s house last night.
“I heard about it but I don’t know what was their discussion about,” he said in a news conference after officiating the MPOB International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition (PIPOC 2019) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
Also present at the congress was the Minister of Primary Industries, Teresa Kok.
Yesterday, a total of 22 MPs from BN were present at the official residence of Azmin in Putrajaya. Among those seen were the MP of Cameron Highlands, Ramli Mohd Noor and Datuk Seri Ismail Abdul Mutalib from Maran.
The two-hour meeting was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Local Government Zuraida Kamaruddin along with four other members from PKR.
It was believed that the meeting was held to defend the leadership of Dr. Mahathir as the Prime Minister after the suffering a heavy defeat at the Tanjung Piai by-election last Saturday.
Many leaders from Pakatan Harapan blamed Dr. Mahathir for the loss. However, Azmin stood up strongly for the Prime Minister. -MalaysiaGazette
