KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that both Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his stand on the power transition issue have never shifted.
He said, they also will not agree with any efforts to divert their agreement for any other conspiracy.
Anwar added, the Prime Minister also took note on the allegations that the certain Cabinet Minister had abused power in raking political support through the granting of projects.
The President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat who had a meeting with Mahathir at the Perdana Leadership Foundation today said that he has obtained the permission from Dr Mahathir to issue statements on several heated matters which became the public’s attention.
“I had a 30 minute discussion with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya and requested his permission to issue statements on several issues.
“First, Tun Dr Mahathir and I have never changed our stand on the power transition issue, as agreed in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Prime Minister had repeated that promise many times.
“I also informed him that the power transition issue needs to be done in a peaceful and orderly manner, within a reasonable timeframe and mutual understanding,” Anwar said in a statement.
Thee Member of Parliament of Port Dickson also said that both Dr Mahathir and him have agreed to put their focus on developing the economy and also the preparation towards hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. -MalaysiaGazette
