KUALA LUMPUR – The Member of Parliament of Rembau, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar denied that he has sent a letter to the Secretary of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Roosme Hamzah on the motion to debate on the power transition date between Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Khairy made the denial through a series of Instagram story posts.
The former Minister of Youth and Sports who is currently not in the country apologised for making a late clarification on the matter as he is on a different time zone.
“I am told that a letter has been sent to the Parliament from me to move a motion to change Prime Ministers.
“I would like to categorically state that this letter is FAKE,” he said.
A screenshot of the letter using Khairy’s letterhead dated 20 November went viral this.
Khairy also said that the fake letter was accepted without checking with Khairy.
He also took the opportunity and uploaded his letterhead which he has been using since 2008, which was different from the one used in the viral photo.
He also stated that he has no interest to be involved in the question of succession as it should be settled by the Pakatan Harapan instead.
“Please don’t drag me into this back room intrigue surround succession.
“I am interested in debating and discussing policy that can assist ordinary Malaysians who are nor worse off under Pakatan. I leave the intrigue to those interested in aristocratic court politics,” he said in his Instagram stories. -MalaysiaGazette
