The management team of the Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA) bowed while making an apology on the wrong Jalur Gemilang live broadcast.

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA) had terminated its live stream production contractor who displayed the wrong Jalur Gemilang with five-point star on the stadium screen in a live broadcast during the Negaraku.

The blunder was made during the opening ceremony of the 28th MABA Milo Lum Mun Chak Cup 2019 yesterday.

Its President, Datuk Lua Choon Hann said that an order to end and delete the video was made by the Executive Officer of MABA as soon as they realised the mistake.

“First and foremost, as the President of Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA), I would like to apologise to all Malaysians.

“MABA take full responsibility on the negligence and mistake, where a wrong Jalur Gemilang was displayed during the opening ceremony of the under 15 basketball championship,” he said in a statement today.

According to Choon Hann, the association is serious about the issue and is working with the authorities to investigate the matter.

He added, the Westports is not involved in the incident and the company’s name was displayed on the screen at the stadium as Westports is the sponsor of the basketball championship.

He also apologised to all partners and sponsors of MABA for the inconvenience caused by the incident. He also hoped that the Malaysians would be able to understand that the mistake was not done purportedly and there was no intention to disrespect the Malaysian flag. -MalaysiaGazette
