KUALA LUMPUR – The President of PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim denied that he had ‘sexual misconduct’ with his former research assistant, Muhammed Yusoff Rawther.

According to Anwar, on the day of the alleged event, he was in Port Dickson for the by-election campaign.

“On the alleged date, I was actively campaigning for the Port Dickson by-election. I attended the 150th Mahatma Gandhi Anniversary in Kuala Lumpur and I rushed back to Port Dickson to fulfil my campaign schedule,” he said in a statement today.

In a news conference yesterday, Muhammad Yusoff said that a political leader had done something ‘un-Islamic, vile, insidious and morally repugnant’ to him in a statutory declaration dated 19 November.

Meanwhile, Anwar said that his officer will lodge a police report on Muhammad Yusoff’s allegations.

“My Private Secretary, Shukri Saad will lodge a police report regarding the issue and my lawyer, Ramkarpal Singh will also write a letter of demand to Muhammed Yusoff Rawther,” Anwar added.

Muhammad Yusoff’s relative, Mohideen Abdul Kader also issued a statement yesterday condemning his motive of disclosing the event a year after the alleged incident. –MalaysiaGazette
