KLANG – Popular 80’s singer, Datuk Nassier Wahab, 57, was laid to rest at the Batu Belah Islamic Cemetery at 11.35 am this morning.
His remains left the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and arrived at the Sirajuddin Al-Anuar Mosque in Kg. Batu Belah at 8.45 am in the morning in preparation of his funeral and prayers.
Among the artists who came to bid their final farewell were his friends Datuk M Nasir, Datuk Nash, Datuk Seri Shah Reza, Ramlah Ram, Salwa Abdul Rahman, Zarul Umbrella and Alif Satar.
Nassier or his real name, Mohd. Nasir Abd. Wahab passed away at 12.45 am this morning.
He was diagnosed with gums cancer earlier this year. He had a surgery to remove a growth in his left jaw at the UMMC on 1 June. He then received chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment at the medical centre.
The growth was detected after Nassier went for a tooth extraction several years ago.
Nassier was admitted to the hospital in April last year to remove a gland and growth in his neck.
The entertainer from Teluk Air Tawar, Penang was popular with his songs such as Memori Cinta Luka, Bayangan Wajah Luka, Sebuah Janji Tak Bereti, Sekali aku Jatuh Cinta and Undangan Rindu.
Nassier was nominated as the Berita Harian Most Popular Male Singer (ABPBH) in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Datin Fatimah Abd. Raof and daughter, Intan Najihah, 22. – MalaysiaGazette
