SELAYANG – Deputy Minister of Education, Teo Nie Ching said that she would lose the support of her voters if the government does not fulfil its manifesto promise to acknowledge the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

According to her, it also meant that she can ‘stop working and go home’ if the UEC is not recognised by the government.

Nie Ching also requested for more time and patience in that matter, especially when the handling of the issue did not meet the expectations of certain quarters.

She was quoted saying that to Nanyang Siang Pau in a dialogue session on Budget 2020 organised by the Selayang Jaya DAP branch.

The programme was also attended by the Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Tony Pua, who is also the Member of Parliament of Damansara.

Nie Ching said, she will continue working on the recognition of UEC as it was promised in the manifesto of Pakatan Harapan during the 14th General Election.

Meanwhile, Nanyang Siang Pau also reported that 70 percent of the attendees in the programme asked about the introduction of Jawi in Bahasa Melayu.

The heated issue caused a minor squabble between two participants of the dialogue for having different opinion on that matter. -MalaysiaGazette
