KUALA LUMPUR – Dr Maszlee Malik announced his resignation as the Minister of Education today.
In his announcement just now, Maszlee thanked Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who gave him the opportunity to lead the ministry.
“This is the best gift to me, as an educator and activist for academics. I also wish to state my undivided loyalty towards the Prime Minister and my party, PPBM.
“I believe that I have established clear foundation and direction for the MOE. It is compiled into three words, Education for All,” he said during the news conference on the announcement of his resignation.
Maszlee also believed that the decision was not the end but rather, a new beginning.
“Trust me, the reformation of a country will not succeed without putting the people first.
“On the advice of the Prime Minister, and in the spirit of loyalty to the party leadership and the government, with a heavy heart, I, Maszlee Malik, resign as the Minister of Education with effect of 3 January 2020,” he said.
He also promised to continue giving his service to the country on other capacity, including through his party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM). – MalaysiaGazette
