PUTRAJAYA – The Chief Commissioner of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Latheefa Koya said, the revelation of nine audio clips which, according to the MACC are criminal conspiration at the highest level was made for public interest. The audio recording involved seven individuals including Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife and two leaders from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was made for public interest.
According to her, the recordings exposed power abuse, criminal breach of trust by falsifying documents, disclosure of classified information, threat to national security, criminal conspiracy, thus, the commission chose to reveal it to the media so that the people are aware of the situation.
“If we listen to it, there were various serious criminal actions, which include the abuse of power.
“There were elements for cover up and also elements of corruption which took place,” Latheefa said in a special news conference attended by local and international media at the headquarters of the MACC.
The nine audio recordings were played for the media.
According to her, the recording is believed to be made between 5 January and 29 July 2016 and it involved 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Among the names of the individuals involved in the conversations were Tan Sri Abu Kassim, Tan Sri Gani Patail, Tan Sri Apandi Ali, Datuk Seri Azeez Rahim, Datuk Dr Shamsul Anwar Sulaiman, Datuk Suboh Md Yasin, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail, Tan Sri Shukri Abdull.
Besides them, the voice recording also believed to involve the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan, The Chairman of International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC) Sheikh Mansour Zayed al Nahyan, Chief Executive of Mubadala Development Company (MDC) Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, President of UAE Khalifa Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, Datuk Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin and Senator Khairul Azwan Harun. – MalaysiagGazette
