SEPANG – The Ministry of Health confirmed the report that it has received another suspected case of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Bintulu.
Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the suspect is a female and is currently being quarantined at the Bintulu Hospital pending for laboratory test result.
Earlier, four Chinese tourists were tested coronavirus positive and they are currently being treated in the hospital.
“We just received the report and I spoke to the Director of Bintulu Hospital. The suspect is quarantined at the hospital and we are waiting for the IMR laboratory result. The patient is stable,” he said in a press conference.
Dzulkefly visited the coronavirus screening station at the KLIA and KLIA 2 prior to the news conference.
A police report on an individual suffering from coronavirus symptoms in Bintulu went viral in the social media.
According to the report, the 25-year-old woman went to Wuhan for work on 11 January before arriving in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for five-day transit.
She then went to work in her office as usual and on 26 January, she went to the Columbia Asia Hospital to get treatment after she had fever.
As of yesterday, 164,692 tourists who arrived in the country through all international entries have been screened by the MOH since 1 January.
Nine of them were referred for further examination. -MalaysiaGazette
