KUALA LUMPUR – We used to cry when we cut onion but now, we cry just by looking at the price of onion.
The President of MCA, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong depicted the current national economics using the prices of onion.
According to him, despite the various problems surrounding Malaysia, including the uncertainties on the power transition of the Prime Minister, the utmost problem is the economic situation of the country.
Ka Siong said during an interview with a Chinese news agency recently that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who leads the country again could neither reach the target of Vision 2020 nor free Malaysia from the racist mentality.
“It is almost two years that Dr Mahathir has become the Prime Minister, but, the Malay Dignity Congress and his statements about the wealth of the Chinese were against Vision 2020,” he was quoted saying in Sinchew Daily.
On the other hand, when asked about the situation in Barisan Nasional (BN), Ka Siong said that the three component parties have become closer after the political coalition became the opposition.
“Perhaps, each party had self-esteem issue when we were ruling. But now, we have a different position.
“In the parliament, the UMNO leaders gave their full respect to MCA,” he said.
He also shared that by returning to its original position where the three component parties in BN, they would now sit down and discuss anytime.
“MCA will continue to defend the Constitution, protect the diversity and hold on to moderation.
“This is the bottom line of MCA and no one can cross it,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
