KUALA LUMPUR – The plight of DAP which fought fiercely against the construction of Lynas plant went down the drain when the Cabinet Ministers granted their greenlight for its operation license to be extended for three more years.
With that decision, DAP had clearly betrayed the principles of its paTrty.
The Deputy Publicity Director of MCA, Datuk Leong Kim Soon said, it did not matter if DAP kept mum during the cabinet meeting or not on 12 February. Obviously, the ‘rocket’ has made a U-turn on the Lynas issue.
“Don’t the six DAP ministers feel embarrassed about their protests and actions during GE14?
“DAP had ignited the anger of the people and raked votes but after they won the election, they blatantly betrayed their own principles,” he said in a statement today.
Leong said, before they were given the power to rule by the people, the DAP leaders, including the 6 Cabinet Ministers had strongly criticised the Lynas plant.
DAP accused that the Lynas would affect the safety of the residents.
Cynically, he questioned the actual position of the DAP Bentong MP, Wong Tack who acted as an environmentalist and championed the campaign to shut Lynas down, for the sake of getting votes from the people.
“Ironically, when they join the cabinet, they chose to extend the operation license of Lynas,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
