KUALA LUMPUR – The sudden action of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and DAP who stated their support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had raised eyebrows.

Based on the observation and reports, the urge for Dr Mahathir to release his position as the Prime Minister during the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidency Council meeting last Friday came from Amanah and DAP.

“In a twist of event, when Tun Dr Mahathir resigned, the President of Amanah, Mohamad Sabu, and the Secretary-General of DAP, Lim Guan Eng made their parties appear as the biggest supporter for Tun Dr Mahathir to remain as the Prime Minister,” said political analyst, Dr Kamarul Zaman Yusoff.

In a statement yesterday, Mohamad said that Amanah will give its full support to Dr Mahathir as the Prime Minister to continue leading PH.

“May Allah SWT grant strength to YBhg Tun to go through the political turmoil taking place now.

“We stand with Pakatan Harapan and YBhg Tun for a better Malaysia,” its President, Mohamad Sabu said in a statement.

Meanwhile, after an emergency meeting yesterday, DAP said that its party will nominate Dr Mahathir again as the Prime Minister it the emergency PH Presidency Council Meeting tonight.

According to Guan Eng, Dr Mahathir made the decision to relinquish his positions as the Prime Minister and Chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) today following an attempt to form a backdoor government with the opposition by his party.

The statements from Mohamad and Guan Eng made Kamarul questioned if these were jokes, hypocrisy or action out of desperation. -MalaysiaGazette
