KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will be meeting all 222 Members of Parliament (MPs) personally beginning 2.30 pm today and tomorrow.
The one-to-one interview with the MPs is part of the process to get confirmation and to help form the new federal government.
“No MP will be left behind in the one-to-one audience with the YDPA,” said the Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.
According to him, the YDPA will interview each MP for about two to three minutes.
A total of 90 MPs will be having an audience with the King today and it is projected to complete at 7.00 pm today.
“The session will continue tomorrow with the rest of the lawmakers,” he said.
The media representatives will also be briefed to avoid false speculations.
The process is conducted for the first time in history at the federal level and it showed the concerns of the King towards the democracy system of the country.
It also answered speculations on the number of MPs from various political parties getting ready in their suits, heading to Istana Negara. -MalaysiaGazette
