KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong is not confident that a single Member of Parliament (MP) has gained the trust of the majority MPs to form a government.

Therefore, the Istana Negara will contact the leaders of political parties with seats at the Dewan Rakyat so that they can be given an opportunity to nominate an MP as the future Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong also agreed with the decision taken by the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat for not calling a special sitting next Monday, 2 March 2020.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will continue to seek solution in line with the Federal Constitution for the welfare of the people and the country.

His Majesty also thanked the Members of Parliament, the Chief-Secretary of the Government and everyone involved in the MP interview which took place for two days since Tuesday. -MalaysiaGazette
