KUALA LUMPUR – Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad kept his mouth tightly shut and ignored all questions from the journalists who were waiting for him outside the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

He only looked at the reporters and went without any reaction, as if he did not hear the questions.

Yesterday, Dr. Mahathir said that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had decided that the Prime Minister would be chosen by the Dewan Rakyat, thus a special sitting would be called to determine the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 2 March 2020.

However, the Istana Negara after the Conference of Rulers today requested all political parties to submit the candidate nomination for the Prime Minister’s post to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. According to the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong also agreed with the decision taken by the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat for not calling a special sitting next Monday, 2 March 2020. -MalaysiaGazette
