KUALA LUMPUR – Dr Afif Bahardin has resigned as the Health, Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Committee Chairman at the advice of Chow Kon Yeow, the Chief Minister of Penang.
His resignation was verified by the Acting Chairman of the Penang PKR State Leadership Council (MPN), Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik.
“Penang PKR has noted that YB Dr Afif Bahardin, the Sebarang Jaya ADUN has resigned as the Penang Exco this morning.
“Penang PKR is also informed that the resignation was at the advise of the Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow,” he said in a statement today.
Kon Yeow verified the matter after a meeting with Dr Afif at 8.15 am this morning.
The Penang Exco has also accepted his resignation.
The Deputy Keadilan Youth Chief had earlier declared that his loyalty would remain with the party and he is committed to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government which has won the mandate to rule Penang in the previous general election.
However, Dr Afif is also among the individuals who supported the former Deputy President of PKR, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who had left the party and the PH coalition, leading to the downfall of the PH federal government. – MalaysiaGazette
