KUALA LUMPUR – MCA is expected to get at least a minister and two deputy ministers’ post in the new Cabinet which will be formed by Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Both ‘Wees’ from the party namely, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Ayer Hitam Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and the MP from Tanjung Piai, Datuk Seri Wee Jack Seng are believed to be appointed. Nevertheless, the status of Jeck Seng as a minister or deputy has yet to be determined.
MCA could also fill several ‘ministries of choie’ such as the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Housing and Local Government or the Ministry of Primary Industries.
The party could also fill the position as the deputy minister in the Ministry of Education.
“The Prime Minister is still filling up the Cabinet list at the moment,” a source told China Press.
Besides that, the Secretary-General of MCA, Senator Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker and the MCA Youth Chief Nicole Wong could be appointed as deputy ministers with the status of Senators.
Meanwhile, the only MP from MIC, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan is also rumoured to join the Cabinet, either as the Minister of Human Resources or the Minister of Health.
Sinchew Dailly reported that Muhyiddin could announce the first ministers list next week, with the possibility of a ‘vacant’ Deputy Prime Minister.
According to a source, the position could be kept for the candidate from Bersatu, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Candidates from UMNO including Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein may be dropped, after Muhyiddin promised to appoint ministers who are clean with integrity and are calibre.
He said, although the President of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang is an option, his name could be rejected by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). – MalaysiaGazette
