KUALA LUMPUR – “I leave it to PM, it’s not compulsory… it’s fine if I’m not chosen.
“If I’m not chosen, I can go back and become a fisherman, it’s alright,” the President of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang joked when asked about the possibility of him being appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister (DPM).
“The people nominated them, it should be PM. Many people are happy when they are nominated. I am not happy when people nominate me,” he said during a news conference at his office in Rusila Mosque, Marang, Terengganu when asked to comment on the suggestions of him being appointed as the DPM in the Perikatan Nasional government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to Abdul Hadi, he is open to anyone chosen by Muhyiddin and he will support that person.
He also repeated the circumstance of PAS which wanted the Cabinet to be formed by politicians who are professional and clean with integrity and expertise.
According to him, the selection of the leader was a wise decision by the Yang Dipertuan Agong (YDPA) and those who wanted to motion for a no confidence vote showed that they do not trust the YDPA.
PAS wants the cabinet to factor in the multi-races community although they may be the minority in the Perikatan Nasional, with the exception of Sabah and Sarawak.
When asked about the excessive time taken to form a Cabinet, Abdul Hadi said, “Needs to be careful, thoroughness comes from Allah, carelessness from the Satan.” -MalaysiaGazette
