KUALA LUMPUR – Former Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Group, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz can’t wait to start his new responsibility as the Finance Minister after being sworn-in today.
However, he is aware that his new role is not easy. Nevertheless, he is committed to make changes and improvement as soon as he starts his job this afternoon.
“I will report to work at the Ministry of Finance after I’m sworn-in at the Melawati Palace in Putrajaya today.
“As you all know, I am not a politician, (but) I will do my best and see what we can do.
“We know that it is a very challenging time now,” he said when met by the journalists at the lobby of the Parliament today.
Earlier, Tengku Zafrul, along with five Ministers and Deputy Ministers took their oath as Senators before the Speaker of Dewan Negara, Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran.
They were Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Datuk Lim Ban Hong, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and Datuk Dr Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad.
Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul also said that he will be briefed by the Secretary-General of Treasury, Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir before he starts his new role today.
“Let me start my work first, I will be briefed by the Secretary-General of Treasury and his team.
“I think what we need to do now is to focus on the current challenges and I hope that everyone knows what the challenge is, it is economy,” he added. – MalaysiaGazette
