PUTRAJAYA – The Home Ministry did not reject the possibility of reopening the cases on the individuals involved with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) group.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said that it would depend on the detailed briefing and discussion with all senior officers of his ministry.

“We’ll see what we should do. The terrorism issue is not only a problem in the country but it is a global problem.

“We need to see all information we have. If we need to take action, I want a stern action.

“That stern action would be according to the law or constitution,” he said when asked if the LTTE case would be reopened after it was dropped by Tan Sri Tommy Thomas when he was the Attorney-General.

Tommy has tendered his resignation on 28 February after the change of government.

Before his resignation, Tommy withdrew the proceedings against 12 individuals charged for being involved with LTTE, including the Seremban Jaya State Assemblyman P. Gunasekaran and Gadek State Assemblyman G. Saminathan from DAP. -MalaysiaGazette
