SHAH ALAM – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah ordered everyone to stop accusing the Perikatan Nasional government as a backdoor government.
His Majesty said, the accusation is baseless as the power transition of the government was carried out by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) in line with the National Constitution.
“It is inaccurate to accuse the formation of the Federal Government as a backdoor government or a power coup.
“It must be stopped immediately as the Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been given the power to use His Majesty’s discretion under the provision of the law,” the Sultan said at the Selangor State Assembly today.
Earlier, His Majesty officiated the opening of the third term of the 14th Selangor State Assembly sitting.
Also present was the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin and the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
YDPA Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah appointed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 29 February after His Majesty believed that Muhyiddin has the majority support from the Members of Parliament.
The Perikatan Nasional cabinet was formed on 9 March after the cabinet list submitted by Muhyiddin received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Sultan Sharafuddin also said that the Federal Government was formed after an open and careful negotiation, in line with the providence of the Constitution.
“The power transition carried out by Seri Paduka Baginda YDPA was made carefully and openly, after negotiation, in line with the providence under the National Constitution,” he decreed.
His Majesty also reminded the Selangor State Assembly Members to always upkeep the political stability and administration of Selangor.
“The people are getting tired by the political turmoil which hits the country since GE14.
“Politicians are always bickering about never-ending political issues and have forgotten about their real duties,” he said.
His Majesty also warned the people’s representatives in Selangor not to affect the Selangor state administration after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) lost their central administrative power.
“I don’t want anyone of you to have the intention to mess up the administration of the Selangor state.
“I want you to work and ensure political stability in my state is upkept for the welfare of my people in Selangor,” His Majesty said. -MalaysiaGazette
