KUALA LUMPUR – Five policemen were injured after a lorry crashed into the Covid-19 Operation roadblock at Jalan Syed Putra at about 12.45am this morning.
Constable Mohd Afendi was injured on his head, left shoulder and leg and is being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Four other victims namely, Inspector Afifi Zulhusni, Corporal Khairul Nizam, Corporal Azizi and Lance Corporal Wan Kamarul sustained light injuries and are currently being treated at the same hospital.
“The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department pray that all victims will recover soon and are able to return to their work as usual,” the department said in its Instagram post.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) launched the Covid-19 Operation during the first day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to ensure that the public comply to the restriction announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin last Monday.
The order was implemented on Wednesday.
Today marks the third day of the restriction order, however, many Malaysians are still not complying to the MCO by giving various reasons. -MalaysiaGazette
