PUTRAJAYA – Malaysians are urged to not blame the tabligh congregation as the cause for the Covid-19 outbreak the country is facing currently.

Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also hoped that the congregation is not discriminated of stigmatised by the community.

According to him, it is more important for the public to help track Covid-19 among the tablighs, their family and friends.

“We should not blame the tabligh congregation. Do not discriminate them. Do not stigmatise the tablighs.

“It is more important for us to help trace, cure Covid-19 infection among the tablighs, family and their friends,” he said.

A total of 14,500 tablighs had attended the Ijtimak Tabligh Convention at the Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur which took place from 28 February until 1 March.

As of now, the MOH had screened 13,000 of the tablighs and took samples from 6,700 of them. From that amount, 986 were tested positive of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, MOH has collaborated with MERCY Malaysia in giving psychosocial support to Malaysians. -MalaysiaGazette

  1. Syabas, Dato Dr. Noor!! You are doing a good job and very professional. With the strong support and sacrifice of the frontliners and your leadership this pandemic should be under control very soon. Attend and treat the patients and those tested positive instead of wasting time pointing the blame. Encourage the attendees of the convention to come forward for tests.
