KUALA LUMPUR – A people centric economic stimulus package will be presented this Friday. It would be more thorough and will benefit everyone, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a taxi driver, Grab driver, farmer, restaurant operator, nasi lemak seller, pisang goreng seller, burger trader, day worker, the government will try its best to ensure that all of you will benefit from it. InsyaAllah (God willing), no one will be left behind,” said the Prime Minister during a special address broadcasted live just now.

Muhyiddin also hoped that the zakat collection centres nationwide will play a more proactive part in helping the asnafs whom he believes is facing a hard time now.

“Help them. Perhaps they were not listed as asnaf before this, but with the economy being affected now, they have become the asnafs and deserve to receive zakat assistance,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister, in the Cabinet meeting today, he had also directed the Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) to mobilise all Federal Territories Zakat Collection Centres to identify the asnafs who qualify for zakad aid immediately.

He also hoped that the zakat collection centres in other states would do the same.

“Charity organisations can also contribute to those in need.

“I call upon all charity organisations in this country to rise to the occasion by helping the needy regardless of race and religion during this trying moment. The difficulties they are facing are unprecedented. And I believe all of you can do something meaningful to ease their burden,” he said. – MalaysiaGazette
