PUTRAJAYA – The death toll due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia had increased to 26 individuals.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the 24th death involved a 34 year-old Malaysian man who had travel history to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the 25th case involved an 83 year-old patient with medical history of chronic back pain, he said.

That patient was treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on 25 March and he passed away at 6.55pm last night.

“The 26th case was a 53 year-old Malaysian man who had close contact with a Covid-19 positive case and was treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital before he passed away this morning,” he said in a news conference.

Noor Hisham also said that as of 12.00 pm today, 130 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported, turning the total Covid-19 positive cases to 2,161.

“As of now, a total of 54 positive cases are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 34 cases needed respiratory support.

“Meanwhile, 44 cases have recovered and they were allowed to discharge today.

“The cumulative cases that have fully recovered from Covid-19 and discharged from the ward are 259 cases,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
