HULU LANGAT – Deceiving the police with false information about himself as a tabligh member, a youth was arrested and remanded for four days after roaming around an apartment in Balakong during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

According to the Kajang District Police Chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff, the 20-year-old man was arrested at 2.00am on Monday for giving false information by claiming that he was one of the tabligh member at the Seri Petaling Mosque.

“On 30 March, at around 2.00am, the Kajang police arrested a man at an apartment in Balakong during an MCO enforcement.

“The investigation under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Regulation 7 of Prevention Regulation, we have arrested the suspect and remanded him for four days.

“During the statement, the suspect has given statement that he was one of the tabligh member who went to Seri Petaling,” said Ahmad Dzaffir in a news conference at the Mile 21 Control Post at Sungai Lui today.

Following his false statement, a disinfection process was conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH) at the Kajang District Police Headquarters yesterday.

Based on the investigation, the suspect lied because he was afraid that he would be arrested by the police.

“After the investigation and interview on the family of the suspect, we found that he was not a member of any tabligh group.

“The suspect confessed that he told the lie to avoid being arrested and remanded by the police.

“We can also investigate the case for giving false statement to civil servants,” he added.

Ahmad Dzaffir also shared that a total of 43 arrests have been made for defying the MCO.
