KUALA LUMPUR – The second phase of the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) cash aid payment will be made beginning 4 May.

The payment which involved the B40 and M40 households and single individuals will be made beginning 4 May 2020, said the Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

According to him, a total of 7.74 million recipients had received the first phase of BPN payment which amounted to RM5.47 billion.

The cash payment for those who do not have banking account had started on 17 April 2020 and over 157,000 recipients had received their cash from the Bank Simpanan Nasional branches nationwide.

Tengku Zafrul said, as of 26 April, more than 3.26 million of new application and appeals have been received.

From that amount, 2.96 million were new applications and 305,000 individuals appealed for the BPN cash aid.

The process will be closed this Thursday on 30 April. Payments will be made the following week after the validation process.

The Special Financial Aid of RM500 for the 2.5 million civil servants and retirees, including the non-pension veterans have been made on 23 April. Meanwhile, the cash aid to 1.5 million higher education students of RM200 each have been paid out yesterday. -MalaysiaGazette
