KUALA LUMPUR – Almost all respondents (96.8%) said that they have benefited from the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin) announced by the Prime Minister on 27 March.

From the 41,386 respondents of the special survey on the Impact of Covid-19 on Economic and Individual (Round 2), 68.2 percent received three types of aid, 13.9% received two types of aid and 17.9% received one aid.

According to the Chief Statistician, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Uzir Mahidin, 70.1% pf the respondents think that the stimulus package is effective in easing their financial burden.

Meanwhile, 9.1% of the respondents think that if is fully effective in lifting off their financial burden during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

“The analysis presented in the special survey encompasses qualitative opinion of individuals on economic, occupation, lifestyle and education.

“The findings from this survey could assist the government and the people of Malaysia in overcoming the impact of Covid-19 on the economic and life.

“The analysis shared here is based on the respondents of the survey and does not represent the opinion of all Malaysians.

“It should also be interpreted carefully to evaluate the impact of Covid-19 in Malaysia and it is not an official statistics.

“However, it can be used to support and provide an impression on the current situation,” he said in a statement today.

The findings is shared by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) based on the online Special Survey on the Impact of Covid-19 on Economic and Individual (Round 2), which was conducted from 10 until 24 April 2020.

A total of 41,386 respondents nationwide aged 15 years and above had taken part in the survey. -MalaysiaGazette
