The Chairman of EC, Datuk Seri Azhar Azizan Harun said, nomination date will be held on 20 June, meanwhile, the early polling day will be set on 30 June.

According to the 2019 voters registry updated as of 7 May 2020, there are 20,990 eligible voters in that area.

From that amount, only 18 are early voters.

“14 polling centres with 66 channels will be opened to facilitate the process.

“The by-election is projected to cost RM4.3 million,” he said during a news conference on the DUN Chini N23 by-election at the headquarters of EC today.

The campaign duration is set for 14 days.

A total of 832 staff from EC will be appointed to handle the by-election process.

The Pekan District Director, Datuk Zaliza Zulkipli will be appointed as the by-election Managing Officer.

The EC will be using the Main Hall of the National Youth Training Institute (IKBN) in Pekan as the candidate nomination centre and the ballots counting centre.

Meanwhile, the EC targeted the 70 percent of voters’ turnout during the polling date.

Meanwhile, Azhar said that the EC will broadcast the nomination process, issuance of postal ballot papers, early polling, the inspection of ballot boxes, polling, the counting of votes and the result of the by-election live through the commission’s Facebook Live.
