PUTRAJAYA – 78 new Covid-19 cases and one death were reported in Malaysia today.

Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, with the increment, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia is 7,137 cases.

From the 78 new cases, 25 were imported and 53 were local infection.

“40 cases were non-citizens. 25 were detected at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot,” he said during the daily news conference on the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia.

According to Noor Hisham, 63 patients have recovered and allowed to discharge today. The cumulative cases of Covid-19 patients discharged from ward is 5,859 cases or 82.1 percent from the total cases.

Nine patients were being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, the 115th death was a 65-year-old Malaysian man who had medical history of diabetes and kidney disease.

He was treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on 3 April and was pronounced dead on 21 May, 2.58 pm, the Director-General said. –MalaysiaGazette
