PUTRAJAYA – After consistently recording double digit new Covid-19 cases for several weeks, Malaysia is back to its three digit new daily cases after recording 172 cases today as of 12.00 pm.
Thus, the total Covid-19 positive cases in Malaysia is 7,417 cases, said Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“172 new cases were reported, 5 cases were imported cases which contacted the disease from overseas.
“From the 167 local infections, 159 were non-citizens and 112 cases were detected from the Immigration Detention Centres.
“The public need not worry as these Immigration Depots are isolated from the public and is controlled by the authorities,” Noor Hisham said.
He also said that, 34 cases had recovered and allowed to discharge today turning the cumulative cases of full recovery and discharged to 5,979 cases (80.6 percent from its total cases).
“Meanwhile, the total number of active Covid-19 cases is 1,323.
“They have been isolated and given treatment. Eight Covid-19 positive cases are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“From that amount, four cases required respiratory support,” he said during the daily Covid-19 news conference today.
He said, no death was reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) today.
Thus, the cumulative Covid-19 death in Malaysia remained at 115 cases (1.55 percent from its total cases). -MalaysiaGazette
