KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad commented on a viral picture which alleged that he agreed to leave the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

According to the former Prime Minister, the incident on 23 February took place at his residence after the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Supreme Council meeting.

The meeting which involve the President of Bersatu Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, other party members and the then PKR leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin was held to discuss on Bersatu’s Supreme Council Meeting decision of wanting to leave PH.

After that, they went to have an audience with the Yang Dipertuan Agong, he said.

“The Bersatu Supreme Council wanted to exit PH. I advised them to take time to think about serious and heavy decisions and they agreed to give me time.

“Muhyiddin gave me a week. They have planned to exit PH.

“After that, the both party leaders went to the palace and have an audience with the YDP but I did not go because I would like to deeply consider the decision of Bersatu’s Supreme Council Meeting.

“That happened but before that, Muhyiddin came to see me multiple times alone, asking me to agree with the proposal of Bersatu leaving PH.

“I rejected him. I said, I will think about it but I did not agree to leave because I think that PH won in the plight to topple Najib.

“I think that it is weird for Bersatu which helped to topple Najib suggests to work together with Najib. Not that I said I will leave PH but this suggestion shocked me,” he said in a video recording today.

The former Prime Minister also said that there is no reason for him to reject PH despite allegations claiming that the coalition is governed by DAP.

“It is impossible for DAP to govern PH. As the PM, I will not agree as I consider everyone, especially the Malays,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
