KUALA LUMPUR – The Magistrate Court had sentenced an eight months’ imprisonment on the son of former Defence Minister, Mohamad Sabu over drug offence.
Besides jail, Ahmad Saiful Islam Mohamad was also ordered to be placed under the supervision of the National Anti-Drugs Agency and the police for two years right after he finished serving his sentence.
Magistrate Mohamad Aizat Abdul Rahim also dismisesd the application of the defence for interim stay to suspend the verdict. On the contrary, it ordered the sentence to be served immediately.
“The accused pleaded that he was not guilty right from the beginning of the case until he is convicted today and it has wasted time and cost of proceeding.
“The prosecution has also managed to prove beyond reasonable doubt on the case.
“After taking into consideration of the aspect, the court sentence eight months’ jail and two years surveillance,” he said.
