KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Bahru UMNO Chief, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad questioned the decision of Muafakat Nasional (MN) in nominating Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the candidate of Prime Minister (PM) after the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said, UMNO and PAS, as the members of MN, should resolve on how Barisan Nasional (BN), MN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) should contest in the coming election.
“Do we need to decide on who would become the Prime Minister first?
“Why is everything in reverse order?
“As individuals? As a coalition? Using their own logo? One logo?” he questioned in a Facebook post today.
Shahrir’s social media post came after the Secretary-General of MN Committee, Tan Sri Annuar Musa verified that the two parties had agree to stay in the cooperation of Perikatan Nasional and named Muhyiddin as their next Prime Minister.
Shahrir also see the latest development as ‘who would fill the main positions in the government’ has become the main offer of BN, Pas, Bersatu and G10 (Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s group).
“This also seemed like an answer to the offer from Tun Dr Mahathir, who offered Shafie Apdal to become the PM of PH (to reject PKR),” he said, describing the current situation as the new politics and not new Malaysia.
“After resolving the PM position, we need to wait for other decisions,” he said.
He also wondered about the term and conditions which would be imposed by Muhyiddin in the future after being declared as the PM candidate for GE15.
Last Wednesday night, the leaders from Barisan Nasional, PAS and parties from Sarawak and Sabah had a meeting with Muhyiddin and stated their support to the PN coalition led by Muhyiddin ‘for the political stability, welfare of the people and prosperity of the country’. –MalaysiaGazette
