CHINI – The final day for the Chini State Assembly by-election campaign witnessed two former political foes sitting and dining together.
In the Kampung Kuala Mentiga campaign series, the Member of Parliament of Pekan, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was joined by the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and the duo were seen to be having breakfast together.
This is also the first time when the two are sighted to be seated together since the formation of the Perikatan Nasional government in March.
The Chini by-election also marked the first time for Azmin to support a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate.
Also present at the campaign were the BN candidate Mohd Sharim Md Zain and the Menteri Besar of Pahang, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
The Chini by-election campaign is scheduled to end at 12 midnight. BN seemed to have an advantage in maintaining its hold on the seat when they are also being supported by PAS.
It witnessed a three-cornered fight between the candidate from Barisan Nasional (BN) Mohd Sharim Md Zain, 41, and two other independent candidates, Tengku Datuk Zainul Hisham Tengku Hussin, 64, and Mohd Shukri Mohd Ramli, 49.
There are 20,990 registered voters in the state assembly including 20,972 common voters. – MalaysiaGazette
