KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Nga Kor Ming announced his resignation after the motion for Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof to vacate his position as the Speaker was passed by the Dewan Rakyat.

“I will only serve the government chosen by the people. With this, I announce my resignation as the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat with immediate effect,” he said in a news conference today.

Mohamad Ariff was removed from his position after 111 Members of Parliament (MPs) voted for the motion tabled by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

109 MPs from the opposition voted against the motion.
